FDA Warning on Online Pharmacies
FDA has found companies that sell unapproved pet drugs and counterfeit pet products, make fraudulent claims, dispense prescription drugs without requiring a prescription, and sell expired drugs.
Pet owners who purchase drugs from these companies may think they are saving money, but in reality, they may be short-changing their pet's health and putting its life at risk.
From 1-800-PedMeds Express 2014 Annual Report (printed page 6 or PDF page 10)
"We [PetMeds Express] currently purchase a portion of our prescription and non-prescription medications from third party distributors and we are not an authorized distributor of these products."
"In order to assure a supply of these products, we purchase medications from various secondary sources...we will continue to rely upon secondary sources."
GRAY MARKET =
Manufacturer warranty not only covers the cost of the medication, it also generally covers treatment costs should your pet become sick as result of medicine failure. Medical treatments for a heartworm infection can sometimes cost hundreds or even thousands of dollars.
